The Elizabeth Cosmetic Medicine Centre

NEWSLETTER | Autumn 2009

May has arrived and with it, comes the cooler weather. Now is an ideal time to consider removing unsightly leg veins so your legs will be clear for summer. The newsletter has details about sclerotherapy, a simple walk-in walk-out procedure that will improve the appearance of varicose and spider veins and also the symptoms of tiredness and aching.

The top health topic in the news at present is swine Flu, which appeared to start in Mexico and has now affected hundreds of people in numerous countries. The World Health Organization has issued a high level alert for a swine flu pandemic, and we have an article on how to protect yourself and your family. Even the common flu can keep you away from work for a week or more or, in severe cases, require hospitalisation, so we recommend that you consider Influenza vaccination now. The 2009 Influenza vaccine may not totally protect you from swine flu, but there may be some cross immunogenicity that some protection against the severity of the symptoms. The North Sydney Medical Centre has the 2009 Influenza vaccine in stock.

In 2008 the Elizabeth Cosmetic Centre acquired the advanced Pixel Laser, an aesthetic laser treatment that can lift years away from your face and reverse the early signs of ageing and counteract years of sun damage and acne scarring. The advantages of this over the traditional CO2 and Erbium lasers are the much shorter recovery period and the comfort of the treatment. Already, many of our patients have undergone the treatment with significant results after only one treatment.

Finally we would like to welcome Dr Katya Danko, our advanced registrar from the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. She is an experienced doctor who trained initially in Russia and then completed her General Practice education in Australia. Dr Stefan Lo will continue to work at the North Sydney Medical Centre and will also be pursuing his special interest in Cosmetic Medicine at the Elizabeth Laser and Cosmetic Medicine Centre.

Botox continues to be in the news with its proven effectiveness for wrinkle reduction and its natural looking effects. A treatment easily fits into a busy lunchtime schedule. The Elizabeth Centre provides a Reward Program with complimentary Botox therapy to our patients. Many people ask regarding the parking in North Sydney.

Meter parking is available in McLaren St and Miller St. In Ridge St, one block away there is a council carpark quite reasonably priced.

We also find that parking away from the centre of North Sydney towards the North Sydney Oval is easier.

Please remember if you need the meter topped up give your car details to our receptionist who will be happy to put more money in at no cost to you.
